Why I Signed Up as an Independent Consultant with Arbonne

Hello to the blogging world – I have awoken from my slumber/silence/hibernation! I have been a little preoccupied with a fun #sidehustle that has allowed me to start my own business. If you’ve read the title of this post (spoiler alert), this opportunity is with the online health and wellness company, Arbonne. I know a bunch of individuals are intrigued by the concept of Arbonne (and businesses alike), but sometimes are too skeptical jump right in… I get it. I was you. I’ve outlined below why I chose to take the leap and start my very own Arbonne biz!

The Products:

First things first: all of Arbonne’s products are vegan and cruelty-free. The brand has put together a list (their “Not Allowed” List) that consists of over 2,000 ingredients they refuse to use in their products. I have discussed with friends recently the benefits of switching over to cleaner products and am trying to be more mindful when purchasing everyday items for myself. All of their “scents” are derived from pure essential oils, and they cover such a wide range of products that use you every day.

Where to even start with these products… Nutrition, hair care, skin care, bath and body, makeup (need I say more?). I have been able to use a number of items in each of these categories and was truly impressed with how they performed!

Marble Cake Protein Powder (Limited Edition)

Arbonne’s nutrition section is probably the most popular with their “30 Days to Healthy Living” being the front runner and MVP. It is a program designed to help people live their best and healthiest life starting from the inside. The results have been incredible with this program: weight loss, reducing bloating, clearer skin, more energy, and overall just feeling better throughout their day.

They also have a number of protein powders, fizz sticks, teas, snack bars, green balance (eat your greens… or drink them!) and all things good for your “gut-health”. You can get creative with the protein powder as well; I made no-bake, marble cake protein balls (photographed above).

Pure Vibrance Hairspray

I have yet to get my hands on the shampoo and conditioner (stay tuned), but I have tried their hairspray and can honestly say, it is one heck of a frizz fighter. They have the basics of course, but they also stock hair masques, serums, and mousses. Arbonne announced earlier this month that they have released a jumbo sized of their shampoo and conditioner. Jumbo…. like Costco better watch out.

Ready In 5 Makeup Set

They have all the makeup you could ever want and need. Photographed above is a popular new release, “Ready in 5” that collects the most essential products you need to complete your everyday makeup look. All foundations, CC creams, brow pencils/gel, lipsticks, concealer etc. can all be customized to fit your preferences. I also love their face primer (not photographed), but if you love the Smashbox Photo Finish primer, you will love this one as well. Their whole makeup collection is vegan, consists of clean ingredients and are cruelty-free.

I’m not gonna lie, I was reluctant to try out the makeup collection. I can now confidently say that without a doubt, Arbonne’s makeup was the biggest surprise. The colours are consistent, you are given choices and the option to customize, and their mascara is out of this world. One of my favourite products since the beginning is the “Speak Volumes” mascara and would highly recommend it.

RE9 Advanced Prepwork Set

The skin care lines with Arbonne might just take the prize for being my favorite section to shop from. I am OBSESSED with the RE9 Advanced Prepwork… It has a grainy, exfoliating texture that is gentle enough to use everyday, no scent, and my face feels (and looks) amazing. They have a skin care line that works for everyone. Whatever you’re looking for, they can accommodate: calm, clear, brightening, anti-aging… you name it, Arbonne has it.

The Opportunities:

The opportunities with Arbonne are the holy grail of the entire brand. You can create your own business with long-term benefits like time and financial freedom. You receive incredible discounts on the amazing products (seriously, some people just sign up for the sweet discount), you are trained along the way and you make so many new friendships along the way with your team. So you’re probably thinking… soooo I can make an income, I don’t have to sacrifice my current schedule, and the products are actually legit? YES.

To be completely transparent, the only reason I said yes was because I had used Arbonne products in the past. My biggest concern with these types of businesses in the past was, is the brand legitimate? I couldn’t be more happy that I signed up as a consultant because I’m making extra money every month via commission. Independent Consultants are given the opportunity every month to earn based on commission, bonuses, and incentives.

One of my favorite things about this business is that the consultants do not keep stock. This means that anyone and everyone can go to your website and buy anything that Arbonne has to offer. The best part is that the products are delivered right to your client’s door.

It should also be noted that they are often delivered within a week of ordering! Arbonne is so consistent with providing good customer service. I can attest that the customer service is one of the best I have ever dealt with – with any brand.

So how do you get paid?

Independent Consultants are paid commission on the products we sell. A common misconception is that we get paid to sign people up; this is not the case. All of the Arbonne Independent Consultants working their business truly want to spread the word on this clean branded company that has been around for decades that produce effective essential products.

Let’s take the first level of the company, District Manager, as an example. Individuals who promote to District Manager are on average making between $250 – $1,000 a month. These are just AVERAGES – there is no cap in this type of biz.

The commission is great (obvi), but there are also monthly incentives to be won. This can be extra money on top of your monthly income, it can be a paid for hotel stay, it can be a beautiful piece of jewelry etc. All of this is awarded just for building your own successful business. There are no minimums, no set expectations – this was a huge thing for me. Taking the leap to start my own biz seemed way less stressful knowing that people on the team are there to help you succeed, but there is absolutely no punishment for not meeting “supposed” minimums each month. This got rid of so much pressure and has allowed me to create my business my own way without feeling too pushy or unsuccessful.

A finished look with the Speak Volumes mascara – no falsies on!

My Every Day Drugstore Makeup Routine

I don’t know about you guys, but during the week I try to keep my makeup routine as simple as possible. This is mostly because I only give myself approximately 15-20 minutes to get ready from Monday – Thursday. Not to mention, I borderline do my makeup in the dark because #notamorningperson. This means… I need something quick, easy, and cheap. I’ve got into a pretty standard routine and thought I would share it on the blog! Here are the products I use for an everyday, simple makeup look.

Some of these are my holy grail drugstore products, and others I’m just trying out for the first time. My holy grail’s (and the products I will continue to repurchase) are the Maybelline Lash-Sensational mascara, the NYX Matte Setting Spray, and the Maybelline City Bronzer. It’s actually my first time using this bronzer, but I’m in love! My skin is quite fair, so I picked up the lightest shade (I think there are 3), and am so happy with how it translates onto my face. Not to mention it smells like a vacation. Aka, it smells incredible. In terms of the Lash Sensational mascara, it competes with some of the high-end products at half the price. If you’re lucky, you can often find majority of these products on sale so it’s a win-win situation.

The Cover Girl True Blend Matte Foundation was surprisingly very good. I’m not normally one for a super matte finish foundation, but this one did not feel drying or too matte. I am not a huge fan of packaging because (side note) foundations that are packaged in glass containers will be my demise… I get so frustrated when I pay for a product and can’t get the foundation out. It’s like toothpaste for me. I need to be able to squeeze every bit out; I could not do that with this product and it did leave me feeling like I ran out of my foundation faster than normal…

Soap and Glory’s One Heck of a Blot setting powder is a classic. I had never tried it myself, but was able to get my hands on it at the airport coming home from the UK. I liked this product; standard and reasonably priced.

I think NYX has some of the best products out there for the “finishing touches” of my routine. Blushes, lippies, highlighters, setting sprays etc. Not to mention their eyeliner is my absolute favourite. I picked up the Angel Veil Primer hoping it would perform well, but I was a little disappointed. I think for long days, it’s important to invest in a base primer that will hold your look. After all, it is the canvas to the whole look. I haven’t yet found a drugstore primer I’m in love with, but the hunt is not over! What are some one’s I should try?

Brows (not photographed), Essence Make Me Brow. This is an incredibly easy product to use. Let’s be honest… brows take FOREVER on a days you actually have time to go all-out with your makeup. For the 15-20 mins I give myself during the week, brows are a challenge. Make Me Brow allows me to glide through this step of my makeup routine with the final result being: I have brows that are acceptable for the public eye.

I did not photograph my blush because I change it up everyday! Sometimes I gravitate to more pinkier tones, sometimes I feel more in the mood for an orange/bronzed blush. Sometimes a mixture of both! My favourite drugstore blush products are the Milani Baked Blush or the Wet N’ Wild Icon Blusher. What are your favourite drugstore blushes?

Everyone’s favourite part… highlight, highlight, highlight! My favourite drugstore highlighter at the moment is Maybelline’s Master Chrome Highlight in the shade Rose Gold. This shade is so subtle in the best way possible. When I bought it, I wasn’t sure how I felt about putting pink on my cheekbones – I’m a fan of the classic gold hues of the makeup world. I fell in love! With the brand, the product, the price; all of it.

I’m not one to wear a lipstick everyday, but when I do, I love NYX’s Lip Creams. They have great shades to choose from and the product does not dry out my lips. For my typical “every day” I just pop on a lip balm (or good old Vaseline).

The Products I Use:

  • Primer: NYX – Angel Veil
  • Foundation: Cover Girl – TruBlend Matte Foundation (Shade L40/ Classic Ivory)
  • Setting Powder: Soap & Glory – One Heck of a Blot
  • Bronzer: Maybelline – City Bronzer (Shade 100)
  • Blush: Milani – Baked Blush (Shade “Luminoso”)
  • Highlighter: Maybelline – Master Chrome (Shade 050/ “Molten Rose Gold”)
  • Brows: Essence – Make Me Brow (Shade “Blondy Brows”)
  • Eyeliner: NYX – Matte Liquid Liner (Shade Black)
  • Setting Spray: NYX – Matte Setting Spray
  • Lipstick: NYX – Soft Matte Lip Cream (Shade “Stockholm”)

Let me know if you guys love these products as much as I do! I know it’s hard to believe, but truly, all of these products make it onto my face within a 10 minute time frame. This is why I love them for my week-day makeup routine.

How I Spent My 25th Birthday at the Elmwood Spa

I did it… I joined the quarter-century club (cue tears). I decided to get a small group of friends together and celebrate by pampering ourselves with a half-spa day at the Elmood in Toronto. Here is how I distracted myself from being “ahead by a (quarter) century” (RIP Gord Downie).

In the heart of downtown Toronto, you’ll find this relaxing day spa. It is extremely accessible, only a few streets away from Dundas. For a first time visitor, I had no issue finding the spa.

Our check in at the front desk was seamless and the staff were very welcoming. I, of course, had to snap a picture with the showcased windows of cages and cherry blossoms. Nice touch, Elmwood.

You’re given an itinerary upon check-in the stay on track with your treatments. This came in handy – it’s easy to see how you can lose track of time in a spa atmosphere (#namaste).

First up was lunch, and it was fantastic. Not exactly sure what I was expecting, but the food was very good! It’s hard to go wrong with a 3 course meal experience. If you spend a certain amount, it is included in your package.

My friends let slip that we were there for my birthday and the staff put a personalized touch to my dessert with a candle. Eating lunch and quite literally spending half a day in a robe was already enough of a dream come true, but I made a wish of course. Speaking of these robes, I may have tripped about 45 times – one size fits all robes are not for for short people. That was the hardest part about my day. Well, that and not falling asleep from being so relaxed.

We selected the “Serenity Retreat Package” which included: lunch, water therapy (the steam room took my breath away, literally, but so worth it), manicure, and pedicure. All the elements were so fun and truly an all-round experience. Food, drinks, and being pampered with friends; what’s not to love about that?

Going once was just not enough… Where are your favourite spas? I think I need to create a list of ones to attend. Strictly for research purposes. My birthday was a success and the Elmwood Spa was the perfect venue. Thank you for such a fun experience!

Fab Fit Fun Box: My 1st Yearly Subscription Box

A present to myself every time the seasons change?  Yes please.  From the box design to the goodies inside, I hopped aboard the subscription box train with no hesitation – or regrets.

IMG_9892Fall FFF Box, 2018

I was first introduced to Fab Fit Fun boxes when one of my friends got me the Editor’s Box for my birthday.  I’d of course seen them circulating online and debated whether to get one or not.  Needless to say I was hooked!  A few months later I ordered my first yearly subscription.  There are a few subscription boxes going around lately, but I have to say the Fab Fit Fun box was everything I hoped it would be.  Full size products, great customer service, and a trustworthy organization.  My box was delivered when expected, no products were damaged, and all the products I custom selected were correct.  I was a happy customer!

IMG_0740Spring FFF Box, 2019

Each box comes with goodies selected for a particular season.  A huge selling point for me was that all the products are full size.  I often collect sample sized items and feel like I didn’t get enough product to truly see if it worked for me.  The boxes have a great variety of products that target lifestyle, fitness, beauty etc.  If you sign up for the yearly subscription, they allow you to “customize” your box.  For a handful of the products, you can select which items you want that month.  This is a big thumbs-up because you may want to pass on a product you already own or maybe feel you wouldn’t get much value from.  In addition to the customization, all boxes come with a few standard products for everyone.  All of the prices and descriptions can be viewed in the seasonal magazine that connects you to the Fab Fit Fun community. What’s not to love?

IMG_8345Summer FFF Box, 2018

In addition to the already stand-out subscription box, you’ll notice that each box supports an organization.  I signed up for the year not knowing this, but it totally made me love the brand that much more.  In one year, the four boxes featured the following causes: Wildlife Conservation Society, Right Action for Women, the Kindness Factory, and the Ian Somerhalder Foundation.  The magazine that comes in the box dedicates a page to the charity you can read up on.
Another perk to the full year subscription (and a brilliant marketing approach) is to have the subscribers post a photo of the box on their social media for the chance to win a grand prize.  By using specified hashtags and photographing your box, you are entered to win an all expenses paid trip. Though the chances might be slim, it’s fun to see the final shot. The draw is random and chances of winning are based on how many people have entered; wish me luck for the next one friends!

I absolutely loved receiving the Fab Fit Fun box each season. What can I say, it’s a shopaholic’s dream!  More importantly, it’s allowed me to try products that I wouldn’t normally reach for.  I can admit I’m a creature of habit!  The section for add-ons has gotten me in trouble as well… with products like Tarte, Summer & Rose on major sale  how could I resist?
